Article Image Riparian Area: Fish and Wildlife Havens Woodland Fish And Wildlife If your property includes a body of water such as a pond or stream, part of your land is riparian. “Riparian” is simply a name for the border of moist soils and plants next to a body of water. This area may be only a foot or so wide, like the steep bank of a small creek, or hundreds of feet wide along lowland streams, rivers, lakes, and ponds.
